Ecumenicon Fellowship
The Ecumenicon Fellowship is a registered
interfaith church in the State of Maryland. The organization is
dedicated to advancing human spiritual evolution through work,
study, worship and education. Our ethic is based on four main
principles:
- Ecumenism - Interfaith dialogue
that focuses on commonalities and mutual respect.
- Eclecticism - Freely choosing
whatever best meets our spiritual needs from a variety of sources.
- Syncretism - Creating something
new by drawing on sources that seem diverse.
- Mysticism - Direct intuitive
contact with Divine reality. This is one of the broadest bases of
commonality within our diverse community.
Each member
is encouraged to follow the Divine spark within and to seek out new
ways to enhance that understanding.
Business
meetings for the Fellowship are held quarterly at varying
locations. All Ecumenicon members and friends and allies are invited
to participate. This is a planning and volunteer opportunity
meeting, so all are welcome to contribute ideas.
If you
would like to be involved in on-line discussion, or propose an
activity, send a message to trustees@ecumenicon.org
before the meeting if at all possible.
Marriage Equality
Ecumenicon Fellowship believes that the rights, responsibilities,
and duties of marriage are not dependent on the gender of the adults
involved. We counsel, prepare, and foster relationships based on
caring and mutual responsibility. We take time to ensure that any
couple seeking blessing from us is counseled in current law
concerning rights, responsibilities and privileges of marriage,
civil union, or other related ceremonies to the best of our ability.
We offer Certificates of Marriage regardless of the gender of the
parties concerned. This Certificate carries the weight of our church
as giving its full blessing.
A marriage license or certificate of union issued by the State
will be signed by our clergy, but we make no difference in ceremony,
counsel, or respect between gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered,
or heterosexual partners.
We have always blessed loving relationships. The first couple
married by our ceremonies was a lesbian couple. We have continued
and will continue blessing same-sex or opposite sex couples as need
arises.
